Ibiza’s local government has just passed legislation that demands every club on the island to close at 6:30 AM from the start of the new season in 2016.
El Diario De Ibiza, a local newspaper, has reported that the island’s president and Ibiza’s five mayors met on the morning of Octboer 21st to discuss new closing hours. Their agreed closing time for the entire island has been set on 6:30 AM, which will be a huge blow for clubs that thrive parties that last until the early morning like DC-10, Amnesia, Pacha, Space and Sankeys.
The new legislation doesn’t come out of the blue, as multiple venues have broken their earlier closing hours. Amnesia has been found to have breached their license on 15 occasions, RA reports, saying that: “At the club’s closing party on October 3rd, the doors shut at 1 PM, seven hours later than permitted.”
The music bars in Ibiza Town, that were licensed to 6:30 before, now need to close doors at 5 AM.
