Presenting the cutting edge of the underground from both its native Norway and abroad, the open air Sommerøya Festival is back in August for its 9th edition.
Over two days, 17 – 18 August, Oslo’s Ekebergparken will host the multi dimensional festival event that features music, art, and education. DJs and Live Acts on hand for 2018 will span the spectrum, including the likes of Claptone, Surgeon, DJ Koze, Honey Dijon, Nastia, ANNA, and Sebastian Mullaert across its two dance areas, the intimate, techno focused Hanger stage and the 3000+ capacity Main area.
Also on the program will be a diverse representation of artists and collectives who will exhibit everything from contemporary art, digital art, performances, exhibitions and installations throughout the whole festival area, as well as a slew of workshops, panels and talks on industry related topics from some of the underground’s key representatives. Additionally, Sommerøya features an improvised, two hour Hardware Megajam, which last year attracted a world record 31 musicians.
Moving out of the downtown area of Oslo to the lush greenery of Ekebergparken, just a 7 minute tram ride from the central station, 2018’s Sommerøya Festival will be an enhanced, yet intimate gathering of unique feeling.
