Dutch tech/design company OWOW (Omnipresent World Of Wizkids) was launched back in 2012 and has made made the news on different occasions through their designs that blend technology, music, experience and other themes into futuristic gadgets. They recently entered the kickstarter sphere with a new invention: the WOB.

WOB lets you create music in a physical and intuitive way, by waving, touching and playing around with the device. WOB will react to these movements as a midi controller, and send the received digital information to your DAW (Ableton, Logic Pro, Fruity Loops, Pro Tools & more). Here you can see the WOB in action.

WOB comes in the form of five different controllers in one package:

  • wob: create and control sounds by moving your hands up and down
  • wiggle: shape your music by rotating your hands
  • drum: drum or shake sounds in the air
  • pads: a credit card sized drum pad, with access to your entire drum bank
  • scan: draw dots or lines on a piece of paper and scan it with you WOB device, which translates it into musical dynamics

There will be two product types available. There is the DVS, which is the full package with the slick design, and comes at a slightly higher price than the CRD, which has all the same features as the DVS, but lacks the casing. If everything goes according to plan, WOB will go into manufacturing in December 2015. Products will then be available two months later in February 2016.

OWOW has set its kickstarter campaign target for WOB at 50K, and have collected over 10K within a week. So they could use an extra boost before we can start using this innovative music production tool ourselves. Care to make a donation? Click here.
