From its birth 17 years ago, “Movement” is now a well renowned Festival plus how better can it get as it is taking place in the birthplace of techno, Detroit.
Of course the heavy weight techno DJs like Carl Cox and Adam Beyer are on the bill along side Kerri Chandler, Josh Wink, Nicole Moudaber, Barclay Crenshaw… A total of some 65 acts are being featured over 3 days, May 27-29. The Detroit electronic music scene is something that any soul on earth should experience. We decided to give the spotlight to a selection of live acts and some specific DJs you do not want to miss at Movement!

The Grammy nominated composer and Detroit techno ambassador is a must see at Movement. He will be performing on the main stage Monday with his new “Versus Synthesizer Ensemble.” Following the launch of his 2014 concept “Detroit Love” he stated: “My love for Detroit is my inspiration, my inspiration is Detroit love.”
Larry Heard aka Mr Fingers (live)
The Legendary Larry Heard has been making happy ears on all dancefloors for over 3 decades, it all started with singer Robert Owens in 1986 with “Mystery of Love” and the rest is history. We can’t wait to hear “The Sun Can’t Compare” live, this would be a true experience no one should miss.
Mathew Jonson (live)
Now Berlin based, the Canadian founded Wagon repair and itiswhatitis recordings. From his collaborations with Adam Beyer, Luciano or his experimentations in electro jazz, Jonson always surprises his audience. Be ready for an emotional journey going from techno, ambient and everything in between.
Rodriguez Jr.
From “Imprint of Pleasure” of Suara to the intergalactic “Chrysalism” released last year Rodriguez Jr. reaches infinite audiences through his music. The Frenchman just released a new album “Baobab” via Mobilee records and it’s quite a beauty. Talking about a true live performance, his skills playing the keyboard are simply mind blowing.
Ataxia (Live)
“Ataxia make party music. Dance with your feet, not with your mouth. Less talk, more rock. Punk values infused with acid house. Detroit is home.” In 2017 their new EP released on Leftroom records gained support form the likes of Jamie Jones, Joris Voorn, Richie Hawtin and more. Do not miss Ataxia at Movement!
Recondite (live)
The German prodigy is back at Movement Detroit. His live sets are known for telling a story and by seeing his hectic schedule it’s pretty obvious more crowds around the world want to hear him. His latest tune was featured on Hbo’s series “The Young Pope” so clearly that guy is doing something right!
The Saunderson Brothers
The Saunderson brothers Dantiez & Damari being the son of the legendary Kevin Saunderson are a high anticipated act at Movement. Both are prolific producers & DJs going on tours sometimes performing with their father. Their releases on the notorious KMS imprint are being played regularly by all the biggest names in the industry and also being featured on BBC Radio 1.
Anna
Ana Miranda aka Anna recently won the best breakthrough award in Ibiza. The Brazilian DJ & Producer has music on labels like Diynamic, Terminal M, Yoshitoshi and Cirus. Her first support came from Christian Smith who ended up moving to Brazil! She made some noise in Miami with a massive set at Ultra Resistance. With tours in South Africa, Germany, France and Spain she is now a solid figure in the high in demand DJs around the world.
Golf Clap
The Detroit based duo Golf Clap had an incredible year. Their recent track is being featured on the Toolroom Ibiza Compilation, they’ve been releasing high quality music on Simma Black, Kerri Chandler’s Madtech and their own label Country club Disco. They’ve become regulars in the most prestigious clubs in the U.S. like Ouput , Primary and Grasshoper in Detroit. Expect a big performance from the rising duo.
Heidi
Growing up in Ontario, Canada she is now based in the UK and has established herself as an impressive DJ with unmatched energy and charisma. When in 2006 Get Physical and M.A.N.D.Y took her under their wing , Heidi has taken off to a higher level. Heidi is now running her own show on BBC Radio 1 and her own parties Jackathon where she shared the decks with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Soul Clap, Solomun and more. Heidi is the type of DJ you see playing once and you don’t forget! Don’t miss her performance on the Origins Elevation Stage.
