Mark E returns after the hugely successful ‘E-Versions’ series, only this time the Birmingham based DJ and producer embarks as E-Work.
Mark E started off testing house at the hands of legends like John Kelly and Frankie Knuckles in Wolverhampton in time when the rave culture swept through England. After moving to Birmingham for University mark became part of a larger club scene and soon first productions, naturally edits, followed.
When BBC radio DJ Giles Peterson spotted ‚Scared‘, Mark’s rework of Womack & Womack’s ‚Baby, I’m Scared Of You‘, it was on. A string of memorable releases introduced the world at large to Mark E. Nowadays Mark is known for his original productions and his label MERC.
While his latest release ‘E-Versions’ celebrated the Disco ball lit dance floor, ‘E-Work’ turns down the lights and turn up the system for some trimmed down, but magical grooves with Trudie Dawn Smith on vocals. The devoted househead is taking the essence of Chicago House and diverts it into a more 21st century approach.
E-Work #1 will be released 6 July on MERC
