When Carl Cox Took Over For Pure Carl Cox
Carl Cox is still one of the biggest names in techno decades after first emerging. When he announced his Revolution party was over, the was a collective sigh from fans around the globe. But thankfully, for two very special dates, he was coaxed back to the decks. Pure Carl Cox was another jewel in Privilege’s crown—both events were sold out–and brought old school rave values back to the club and placed dark, sweaty atmospheres front and centre. Special indeed.
Sasha and Digweed Joining Forces at the World’s Biggest Club
It had been a long time—too long—since Sasha & Digweed had done their back to back residency anywhere. Having initially shot to fame from playing together at Renaissance in the nineties, Twilo in New York snapped them up at the turn of the millennium. Then nothing. Until the start of this summer when Resistance managed to coax the old masters out to share the booth for a series of special parties. And they were special, with the old spark and new sounds all making for plenty of memorable nights.
Afterlife Taking Over New Home – Vista Club
Afterlife Taking Over New Home – Vista Club
Vista Club is the smaller second room that has huge glass walls. When the sun rises and shines through them it is an iconic moment in the modern clubbing landscape and this season Afterlife set up shop there and really made it their home. Dark house and techno with real meaning and depth characterised each party and made for something fresh for the summer season.
Techno’s First Lady
Dance music has a gender problem, no one is arguing with that. This summer though, Privilege more than did their bit by showcasing a wealth of female talent all season long. Big hitters from the techno world such as Nastia, Nicole Moudaber, Nina Kraviz, Anja Schneider and tINI all played, and rocked the place. They lead by example with uncompromising selections and real technical skill and long may it continue.
