A passenger on a Newcastle to Ibiza bound flight had half of his ear bitten off with horrified vacationing families looking on.
The event occurred as a budget airline Jet2 flight was about to land on the Balearic hot spot, where a man came running through the cabin with blood dripping off his half hanging ear. The plane, which was mix of clubbers and families, had parents trying to shield their children from the gruesome sight.
Details and motives are scarce at the moment but one source described the scene as, “But to bite someone’s ear off on a plane packed with other people at such close quarters and with families sitting around him is absolutely appalling, people were getting off the plane complaining of feeling physically sick.”
Another passenger described the incident in a bit more detail,
“The victim was a man aged somewhere between 18 and 25. He was with a group of friends who were sitting in front of us but he was sitting towards the back of the flight.
“He kept coming to chat to his mates and then returning to his seat as the flight went on.
“When the plane was taxiing to Ibiza Airport the guy came running down the plane towards his friends.
“He took his T-shirt off and we could see he was covered in blood and that half his ear was just hanging off.
“The steward took him to the front of the plane. We never saw the person that did it but they guy was shouting: “Someone just bit my ear off. Who does that?
“We were all kept on the plane for 20 minutes and when we got off the police were waiting. It was a relief to get off and an absolutely horrible thing to happen in a confined space in front of families.
“It was a horrible start to the holiday.”
The passenger has since been receiving treatment in Spain in an attempt to save the ear.
