With the last confirmation of the line-up, the hype for the spring festivals has taken full shape. Performing is the creative all-rounder and BPitch Control label boss Ellen Allien, and James Holden whose performance at Springfestival Graz will be one of the few performances within the year of 2016. Also featured is Dystopian, Innervisions and Ghostly International crowning dark techno-prince Recondite, and of course Detroit techno and house legend Kenny Larkin who has released on some of the most prestigious labels such as Warp, R & S Recordings, Rush Hour and Planet E.
On top of that, Spanish techno icon Oscar Mulero will make an appearance, along with the Romanian electronic label [a:rpia:r] who is flying in Raresh and Praslea for the Graz Festival highlight. For all fans of bass music, one of the most influential drum & bass labels – RAM Records will showcase Delta Heavy and June Miller. Finally, Mollono.Bass will be the puppet master for the grand finale at Parkhaus.
Overall, more than 120 acts are expected at this year’s addition, with the local scene acting as the backbone of the festival. The domestic talents account for over 60 percent of the line-up – a signal of a blossoming Austrian electronic scene. In addition to the large-capacity venues Helmut List Hall and Dom im Berg, the two intimate clubs P.P.C. and Parkhaus and Graz party hot-spot Postgarage are on the board once again. All venues are within a comfortable walking distance, except for the Helmut List Hall – which is easily accessible by public transportation.
The festival will be beating in the heart of Joanneumsviertel, the festival centre, which is just a few steps from the main square. At the festival centre visitors can pick up tickets and info while getting into the groove of the festival during the day. In addition, the entry to the Universalmuseum Joanneum, which also includes the Kunsthaus and the Künstlerhaus, is free of charge for visitors with a festival pass. Getting cosy in the Joanneum Quarter, the official festival radio – FM4, will be responsible for spreading festival vibes worldwide. The Red Bull Music Academy is also back on track this year, hosting an evening in the Dom im Berg.
