Phase 3 Announcement of Ultra has arrived…. and yes there’s a little bit of EDM, there’s also some major acts like The Prodigy, Chase & Status, and for the older generation…a band called Cypress Hill!!!
It is exciting to see Adam Beyer back along side Jamie Jones, Dubfire and Maceo Plex, all the big names are there of course! By digging through you can also find some cutting edge talents way out of the “Deep House star system” such as Sasha & Digweeed, Black Coffee, Cristoph, Eats Everything, Nathan Barato and ANNA. It is the 19th edition of the Ultra on Bicentennial Park. So many Miami hardcore fans will tell you…“Ultra isn’t as good as it used to” and yes it has changed a lot since the first Ultra was a 2000 people gig on the beach 19 years ago, but next week you can experience seeing artists like Sasha & Digweed playing on the Carl Cox stage, which has been renamed from “Carl Cox & Friends” to “Carl Cox Mega Structure”, you might want to check that “Mega Structure” out! The RESISTANCE stage and its “Arcadia Spider” was a massive success last year, they brought the concept back, you can expect some real madness when Adam Beyer will be closing the show while his DJ booth is suspended in the air surrounded by giant spider legs throwing fire!
For most Europeans a name called Rabbit in The Moon might not mean much, but that act is headlining this year and the Floridians will get really excited for them as the duo has now been around for over 26 years. Rabbit in the Moon story is touching since one of their members, “Bunny” was hit by a glass bottle thrown by someone in the crowd in Seoul, Korea during one of their shows back in 2008, lacerating his retina and damaging his vision. In 2016 the band now based in LA was brought back to Miami and by seeing this video you can tell their performance will certainly be the highlight of this year’s edition. Brazilian born, Barcelona based sensation ANNA is coming back to Ultra, she’s had a fantastic year 2016 with her global phenomenon “Odd Concept” out on Diynamic followed by “Redemption” on Terminal M, a magnificent remix on Suara and she recently released music on Natura Viva and Get Physical, quite a pedigree to say the least. She will be playing on Friday on the Arcadia Spider stage, you can watch a cool video of her during a DJ Mag showcase right here. U.K. prodigy Eats Everything will be showcasing his unique skills behind the decks on Sunday night in good company along side Jamie Jones & Stephan Bodzin. His “Clash of The Tight-Uns EP” is just about to go out on Dirtybird and the Bristol native’s hunger seems to never fade out. Since his new BBC Radio 1 residency the fine producer & DJ has elevated his stature to pure greatness, you can watch a video of him playing at for Zsounds right here.
If you are still hanging out on Bicentennial Park on Sunday you have to check out Cristoph, his extended EP on Knee Deep In Sound has been the sunshine of Hot Since 82’s imprint last year, even Adam Beyer’s Truesoul song “Genesis” was a massive success. Cristoph special taste for music allows him to deliver a compromise between House & Techno that very few others can achieve. Hot Creations talent wAFF is also a must see! His sets at DC 10 Ibiza are still being talked about. As a former dancer and actor, self-expression comes naturally for him. His beats are tough yet emotive, he always finds a way to captivate the dancefloor. German techno pioneer Stephan Bodzin has impressed many with his life performances, an authentic feel you won’t see anywhere else. His song “Singularity” released on Life & Death has become some sort of techno anthem you can’t forget even if you hear it only once.
Stephen’s vibes might explore some more dark territories at times and it is sure a great experience. The 2017 edition of UMF has some solid talents being featured. If you’re worried about missing your favorite act, we highly advise you download the app.
